About the Role

We're looking for an experienced Operational Excellence Specialist to join our Cables Direct team and play a key role in improving performance, efficiency and customer experience across the business.

This is a highly visible role that sits at the centre of our operation, working closely with Sales, Purchasing, Product Management, Warehouse, Customer Service, Finance and IT teams to identify opportunities, solve operational challenges and deliver meaningful improvements.

You'll lead process improvement initiatives, manage operational projects, reduce inefficiencies and help build scalable ways of working that support continued growth. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys combining analytical thinking, operational problem solving and stakeholder management to make a measurable business impact.

The role is based in Nottingham but will require frequent travel to our Castleford and Harrogate offices. Due to travel requirements, a full driving licence and access to your own transport is preferred.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading continuous improvement projects across operational, customer service and fulfilment processes.
  • Identifying inefficiencies, analysing root causes and implementing practical solutions that improve performance and customer experience.
  • Acting as a key link between Warehouse, Sales, Purchasing, Product Management, Customer Service, Finance and IT teams.
  • Monitoring operational performance metrics and KPI trends to identify risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Managing customer and business-critical operational escalations through to resolution.
  • Developing and implementing SOPs, process documentation and operational controls.
  • Supporting operational and system enhancement projects, ensuring changes are successfully embedded and measured.
  • Working with key stakeholders to improve order-to-dispatch processes, bespoke customer requirements, returns management and fulfilment performance.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has proven experience delivering operational improvement, business improvement or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Can demonstrate strong project management and stakeholder management skills.
  • Has experience analysing business processes and implementing operational change.
  • Is highly analytical and confident using data to identify trends, opportunities and root causes.
  • Can influence and build relationships across multiple teams without direct authority.
  • Has excellent communication skills and a proactive, solution-focused mindset.
  • Is comfortable managing multiple priorities and driving results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Holds a full UK driving licence and is willing to travel occasionally between CMS locations.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience within distribution, wholesale, logistics, supply chain or fulfilment operations.
  • Experience within technical products, IT distribution, electrical products, connectivity or cable-related industries.
  • Knowledge of Lean, Continuous Improvement or Operational Excellence methodologies.
  • Experience using ERP systems such as SAP and business intelligence tools such as Qlik.
