Job Purpose Summary
CMS Distribution is one of Europe’s leading specialist technology distributor, a growing and successful business with 500+ people across six locations in the UK and Ireland, plus locations in the Netherlands, Sweden, France, Germany, the US and China.
You will lead tax and treasury initiatives coordinating closely with colleagues across the finance function to achieve objectives. This dual role will report directly to the Group Finance Director. As a well-rounded professional, your role will provide valuable cross-functional insight to help the business and senior management make strategic and tactical decisions for our company. You will be responsible but not limited to, the following.
Role Responsibilities
Manage Tax & Treasury function, leading a team of qualified and part qualified accountants with large focus on Career Development, Mentoring & Training
Act as the escalation point of contact for teams members when approval thresholds are exceeded for risk-based payment decisions.
Develop and enhance SMART KPI’s to monitor performance and drive process efficiency and accountability.
Work with the Finance Director to centralise Treasury Functions from Subsidiary locations (where practical) to Kiltimagh
Oversee the preparation and review of weekly cashflow forecasting for the Group.
Prioritise and manage tasks to meet established deadlines for both month-end and year end reporting
Ensure timely completion of all GL reconciliations assigned to this role, escalating any key risks or anomalies identified.
Conduct thorough reviews of financial data to identify and rectify any errors or discrepancies.
Assist with the preparation of year-end statutory accounts for external audit.
Foster a culture of operational excellence, financial accountability, and continuous improvement, focusing on treasury and tax process improvements.
Assist on special projects, including restructuring, mergers or acquisitions.
Additional Responsibilities
Tax Management
Responsible for the internal review of VAT returns and compliance reporting in collaboration with external partners across all jurisdictions.
Work closely with the business to address tax concerns and questions.
Facilitate timely and accurate corporate income tax and indirect tax compliance.
Work closely with tax partners to implement and manage global transfer pricing strategies and policies and ensure compliance with those transfer pricing policies.
Conduct tax research as necessary and stay informed on legislative changes and their implications for the Group.
Oversee group tax compliance. Maintain a tax return filing calendar and manage third-party service providers to ensure that required reporting, payments, and returns are timely and accurately executed.
Work with local and group accounting teams to support quarterly and annual reporting, as well as any local statutory reporting.
Lead management of group-wide tax audits across all tax areas.
Treasury Management
Analyze group financing requirements and work closely with Finance, Treasury, and Tax to ensure adequate liquidity and funding strategies are in place.
Optimise the use of surplus cash and lead cash pooling discussions with subsidiaries.
Work independently and cross functionally to identify and drive process improvements in corporate treasury operations, utilizing treasury management system, banking platforms, as well as other analytical tools to enhance transactional productivity
Provide support to and collaborate with Group Finance and operations colleagues to improve working capital, manage liquidity & cash repatriation strategy across the group
Manage banking relationships across the group including Invoice Discounting Facilities and FX Management
Lead the management and coordination of the Group Bank Invoice Discounting facility audits and monthly reporting.
Coordinate local bank account openings, closures, and changes in bank services.
Support the Treasury team on ad-hoc projects.
Skills & Personal Attributes
International tax & treasury experience required
SAP accounting software experience is beneficial
Experience of managing a significant workload, highly organised with strong attention to detail.
Ability to work with management in a fast-paced environment.
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, including capacity to perform detailed analysis while understanding big picture implication(s)
Strong communication skills to present or explain key findings/information to different audiences.
Fully Qualified Tax Advisor and/or Accountant (ACA/ACCA/AITI)
