Job Purpose Summary
As a Finance Apprentice, you will gain hands on experience across all core areas of the Finance Department, including Banking & Treasury, General Ledger, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable. Our structured apprenticeship is designed to provide you with the foundational skills and knowledge required for a successful finance career while supporting your professional qualification. (QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate for Accounting Technician)
Role Responsibilities
Banking & Treasury
- Assist with daily cash flow monitoring and forecasting.
- Support bank reconciliations and prepare banking documentation.
- Help maintain banking records and assist in payment runs.
- Liaise with internal teams and banking partners regarding payment queries.
General Ledger (GL)
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Assist in posting journals and preparing balance sheet reconciliations.
- Help maintain accurate records for audit and compliance purposes.
- Collaborate in the preparation of management reports and financial statements
Accounts Payable (AP)
- Process supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
- Match purchase orders and delivery notes with invoices.
- Assist with payment runs and resolve supplier queries.
- Ensure proper coding and authorisation of invoices.
Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Assist in generating customer invoices and credit notes.
- Help monitor customer accounts and chase overdue balances.
- Process incoming payments and allocate them appropriately.
- Support the reconciliation of customer statements.
Learning Outcomes
- Gain broad exposure to core finance functions in a dynamic environment.
- Develop proficiency in accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Sage, etc.).
- Understand end-to-end financial processes and internal controls.
- Build strong analytical, communication, and organisational skills

Skills & Personal Attributes
Education & Qualifications
- Leaving Certificate (or equivalent) with strong results in Maths and English.
- Eligible for a recognised Finance Apprenticeship Programme in Ireland.
- Interest in pursuing a professional accounting qualification and further accreditations.
Skills & Attributes:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Eagerness to learn and work across multiple finance functions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Full Driving Licence, or able to commute comfortably to our Kiltimagh office 4 days per week and college 1 day per week.
